Informal quizzes
Every few weeks, someone writes a set and the rest of us turn up to play. Anyone can join, and anyone can volunteer to host.
Despite the name, Serious Quizzers Only (SQO) is open to everyone. A few quiz enthusiasts got tired of mourning Coimbatore’s lost quizzing culture and decided to start hosting again.
Students play alongside working professionals. First-timers sit next to people who have been quizzing for years.
At an SQO quiz, trying an answer is enough to start a conversation with someone new. Knowing everything was never the price of entry.
Our first six informal sessions drew 40–50 people on average, many of them new to quizzing. We run the next one when enough of the city is free, usually every fortnight or month.
These posters come from SQO sessions and quizzes around the city. We ran some and helped with others. All of them gave people a reason to meet.

SQO ran Coimbatore’s first all-nighter quiz, the Lone Wolf Challenge. It is for the kind of person who hears “one more question” and settles back into the chair.
Our special quizzes also give us space to try strange formats, mark an occasion and attempt ideas that would be too much for a regular afternoon.
Between sessions, we keep the city calendar and help other organisers when they ask. More people get to find their way to a quiz.

All-nighters, themed sets and quiz ideas that need more time, more nerve or a particularly willing crowd.
We share practical help and bring players to college, open and pub quizzes around Coimbatore. The organisers keep the credit.
Each month, we collect the quizzes happening across Coimbatore in one calendar and share it with the people looking for their next one.
That usually lasts until the first question. Come with friends or write to us and we will help you find a team.
